Visual merchandising for retailers is how retailers attract consumers in from the streets (by using their display windows) and build a branded experience within their own businesses.   • Social Proof – The branded shopping bags that clearly demonstrate other shoppers where and what others are purchasing.
  • Reciprocity You may think about gift wrapping and free gifts.
  • Consistency and commitment This is about convincing a consumer to commit. You should think about all the options with loyalty programs.
  • Authority This is the reason why so many businesses do events with popular people and influencers like pop-up shops and book signings.
  • Scarcity This is the reason why there is always more of a specific item in the warehouse or in the stock room.

 

You should know that visual merchandising is not just about retail stores. As a matter of fact, more and more online shops and online business owners are bringing this method to life on the web. The reason for this? Simple, the e-commerce world has gotten more and more crowdie and competitive.

With a majority of businesses using the omnichannel strategy, there becomes a huge need to separate each selling channel. And considering the restrictions of selling on channels, you don’t really own, your site becomes the center for increasing conversions and engagement in a controlled way.

The customers are looking for an unforgettable experience from web stores, an experience they can’t get on Facebook or Amazon, and this is where visual merchandising swoops in.
